1995 at Domaine de Marcoux

Year one of a big challenge: Catherine and Sophie taking over the running of the family estate.

Our brother Philippe wanted to head off, with his family, for a new adventure and destination (but still dispensed advice until 25 November, when he finally departed).
Sophie, who had been working alongside him for a few years, wanted to stay on the estate; and Catherine, who was an employee in Avignon, was keen to come and work with the vines…
We began on… the 1st of April! Naturally, Catherine preferred to look after the vines and grapes; and Sophie, the winemaking side. We shared the other tasks – which was slightly harder that year, because Sophie gave birth on 24 May to her second son, Jean-Baptiste!
We have never regretted the slightly risky decision to take over the family estate together. It’s such a beautiful occupation full of action, surprises, doubts and uncertainty, but it is so wonderfully enthusing that it makes you happy.
