2000 at Domaine de Marcoux

To welcome the year 2000, what could be more significant for our terroir than a Mistral blowing practically throughout January and February! With gusts of up to 130 km/h and 10 days non-stop in February.
The first rain of this windy winter fell on 31 March, but there was only 20 mm of it!
The soils’ water reserve levels were low.
We replaced lots of vines that year – nearly 4,000, more than a hectare’s worth. But luckily, it then rained satisfactorily at least once a month, releasing us from the laborious job of watering all the young vines…
July was relatively cool; and August, very hot.
Grape ripening was ahead of schedule.
We began harvesting on 12 September with a small but efficient team of pickers, quality grapes and fine weather…
We finished on the 28th around noon, a quarter-hour before a big storm broke!

We have been farming our vines organically since 1991
